Very good place. I hope to return me my fogotten belt. Thank you for return my fogotten belt.
The staff are all great real friendly
The rooms are dated could do with a make over
Simply awesome. Great rooms, helpful staff (we arrived late in the night, hungry, and all the restaurants were closed. But the manager was so great to open one of the cafes just for us to get some food. Impressive!), wonderful amenities. We would definitely return.
A little expensive, but still worth it.
Staff was really friendly, walked in as a guest and walked out as a friend.
Paying for internet, expected it to be included in the rate I was paying for my room.
The beautiful and secluded beach and location.
I was a little put off by the outdated decor.
Location of the hotel is great: it is set aside of other hotels in the area and makes an impression of a secluded place. Very good restaurant (Molokini): it can actually really be considered a gourmet restaurant, absolutely great. Very friendly staff. Good beach which is effectively isolated for the use by the hotel guests, because remote and not surrounded by other hotels, which is quite a luxury on Hawaii. We also liked the stand-up paddling courses offered by the hotel.
1) The concierge made an impression of being reluctant to book a dive trip with a provider that was not on their "preferred list" which I found a little bit inappropriate. 2) Beach equipment for rent (snorkel gear, umbrellas, etc.) is expensive, especially the hourly rates. I found it strange that beach umbrellas had to be rented, but this seems to be a custom on Hawaii.
Location Location Location! Makena is truly a stay in paradise. Hotel was equipped with everything one expects from an excellent resort and all staff were very friendly and accommodating. Whilst probably a little pricey for the average holiday maker, we felt that we really received what we paid for. Setting is really romantic with gorgeous, well maintained gardens and time moves at a leisurely pace giving a sense of being away from the world. Fabulous!
The atmosphere, it is a rather big hotel but somehow it doesn't feel big. The location, close to a beautiful beach. The room had nice utilities, for example glasses instead of paper cups.
I never like it, in general, that I have to pay for internet access in the room.
Location is good. Receptionist was very nice. Views was good.
Query for breakfast was too long but with a lot empty tables, mabye cleaning and rearranging table can be done much more quickly.
Great place to stay in Hawaii. Clean, renovated and amazing location. I especially like that they don't nickel and dime you like the other resorts that I have stayed. Parking, even valet parking is free! Not so at Grand Wailea. Make that waterslide more of an attraction and Grand Wailea won't have a chance. Very personalized service also. Free breakfast package was great too.
The only thing that I didn't think was ideal was swimming pool which needs a few more bells and whistles. Put a better slide on the pool and the jacuzzi could be spruced up. Put a little spa structure at the beach!
Staff was great, particularly valet/bell people. Breakfast buffet was outstanding.
Really enjoyed the beautiful and delicious breakfast buffet included in the price. This part of West Maui is gorgeous and this hotel feels off-the-beaten-path. The beach and surrounds are stunningly pretty. The hotel has a high-quality feel with beautiful wood trims everywhere -- these have been lovingly refinished and add a lot to the ambience. Diners will especially enjoy the beautiful ponds.
Although most employees were wonderful, friendly, helpful....one poolside towel/equipment employee was too involved in his own lengthy conversation to help us. Hope he'll be leaving soon so he doesn't mar the lovely experience for others.
Beach, ease of snorkeling and watersports on site, with diving nearby. It was in a relatively quiet area, much calmer than the Kihei area. Lovely hotel, staff was excellent. Quiet, comfortable, well decorated rooms. We had a package with a daily all you can eat, buffet breakfast that was superb! The breakfast satisfied us until mid afternoon. We also made good use of the mini frig in the hotel room and the daily free water bottles.
Having to pay $16/day for in room wi-fi was a surprise. There is a hot spot in the lobby, so we used that. Not a big deal for us, but might be for someone on a business trip.
Beautiful grounds, views; comfortable rooms & useable balconies
Bathroom layout awkward, shower weak (very minor issues)
The location and scale of the resort. It is a beautifully designed place.
The price I paid was outrageous for the quality of the resort. Even with a last minute booking - when you charge $500 per night then you should be able to deliver the service. The staff were not very gracious about requests. First put us in a room overlooking a construction side and called it an upgrade. When I asked to be moved it took a lot of pushing. When we asked to stay 1-2 more nights they didn't get back to me for over 12 hours. I booked into the Grand Wailea and have been enjoying the quality of service you expect when paying top prices.
